Let’s catch up
Well it seems an age since our last market, way back in December! Since then, we have celebrated with an excellent xmas meal at the Calf’s Head at Worston where we increased the noise level by several decibels before saying a fond farewell until the AGM at Pendleton Village Hall in January.

There was a very good turnout for the AGM and we were very happy to welcome Liz Mogg our market advisor and Jim our Lancashire Country Markets chairman. We were also very happy to hear from Lionel that 2017 had proved a success.
Ruth (market manager) was very positive in her report and all agreed that the move upstairs into the main body of the church had been a big factor in the increase in revenue and footfall. Trading conditions are difficult all round but the Country Market is benefitting from being more visible in the town, with a main door onto Castlegate and easy access for prams and wheelchairs.
Sue (marketing and communications) updated us on our web and social media presence and reminded us of our nomination for a Customer Friendly RV Business award. There was also some feedback from Maureen Fenton, Mayor of Clitheroe, who had sent a very warm message thanking Clitheroe Country Market for supplying the 150 Christmas Boxes, that were then distributed to over the 80’s in the town.

Elizabeth, our chairman, praised all the hard work of the members and thanked Ruth for her patience in dealing with the changes over 2017. It was good to see our new producers attending their first AGM and looking forward to March 13th and the first market of 2018. Its time to rediscover the green aprons/ invoice pads and get back into the swing of things!
